Fox Lane High School Reviews

The only school you'll ever go too and feel like your at home again. Very diverse but almost homey and healthy atmosphere 5 stars !

I'm a recent graduate from Fox Lane, and let me say that I wouldn't have wanted to grow up with any other school district. This place breeds curiosity, civility, and an appreciation for a diversity aspects in life. Every teacher at Fox Lane, whether I enjoyed their styles or not, seems to feel passionately about what they teach. Caters to all levels of students in their personal educational goal, and challenges those who are up for it. A huge variety of people, clubs, sports and activities gives every person and opportunity to explore different interests and friendships. The teachers have been well selected for kids who come from professional and educationally-minded families, and many of my teachers at Fox Lane have left life-lasting impressions. Definitely an incredible school system to bring your kid into. For those students who care, Fox Lane is a truly educating, although fast-paced system.

I am a graduate of Fox Lane High, and while I do think that due to the school's very large population and size it is difficult to build comfortable relationships with teachers, the natural warmth and the sense of community there is beyond excellent. There is a niche there for everyone, and some of my best memories were built on that campus.

I am a freshmen at Fox Lane High School. Although Fox Lane is currently under a huge renovation the fox lane spirt continues to live through out the campus. Fox Lane is a diverse community, serving very wealthy and very poor, however regardless of the huge economic diversity Fox Lane is a welcoming school, with many great athletic teams and after school clubs. I love Fox Lane

A traditional and peaceful environment school, normal and safe. Great variety of clubs, sports and academic programs during and after-school. Academically it has high expectations from its student body .Most teachers are just and very professional and the school works together with the PTA to monitor and at the same time provide the students with a better school year.

Fox Lane is a very close-knitted community. Teachers always have an open door to their students with academic or individual problems. I remember one teacher commenting on how truly warm and welcoming the administration is and how politically neutral they are. He said it was very rare for schools to be as such. Academically speaking, Fox Lane had once been a blue ribbon school and is still continuing to push excellence. many former students have said that the school has truly prepared them for college and are even at a level ahead of their fellow collee students. Fox Lane has a wide range of classes: many AP's and honors classes, i believe 3 SUPA classes (Syracuse University classes taught in the school), etc. Their clubs cover habitat for humanity, sadd, cultural clubs, religious clubs- they even have a foreign exchange program. overall, I'm proud of my school.

Fox Lane is a wonderful school that has many activities and clubs that you can participate in. The teachers are really good and help you if you need it, and they teach well too. The food isn't that bad either.

I attened FLHS now and I think it such a great school. We have so many choices and everyone is so helpful. We have such a diverse school and everyone is welcome. Our music and theater programs are great and we have an amazing ice hockey team. Our school gets better every year with the new teachers that are being hired for the new freshman classes comming in. I think we have the most friendly and interesting teachers and staff. It would be hard to find this kind of school any where else. The teachers want to get to know you and are interested in what you think. Everyone will find a friend at FLHS. We as a school have so much fun and it is a great safe place for students to go. I love it!

Academics at Fox Lane have been diminishing very dramatically as evidenced by the current (2003/2004) Regents exam, exodus of principals, and resignations of members of the school board. The future of the Bedford Central School System is at risk.

RE HONORS: Do not know the current process behind student inclusion in the honors program, but please be advised that in the mid-nineties my experience revealed that a qualified student was sometimes excluded from honors due to excessive numbers of honors qualified students. Decisions may have been made not to find a way to fund x-tra teachers (or modify existing teacher contracts) to accommodate giving those qualified students equality of opportunity, especially for college preparation, SAT scores, and entree to higher academic institutions. One would hope that by now this problem has been corrected. Parents keep your ears to the ground and don't accept un-acceptable responses to your inquiries if you can quantify that your child is a candidate for honors. ON some positive elements, from an instructional viewpoint, many of the honors teachers were exemplary. A word about music and theatre: fine departments. About sports: Tom Caione is an excellent addition and has done a find job of managing and promoting Fox Lane sports.

I have had two students go through Fox Lane HS. The ducation was great. Best, is that this is one of the few truly multicultural and multieconomic school districts where the school works well and real education goes on. Fantastic music, theater, art programs. Sports are varied and the teams are getting better every year.

Fox Lane High School has an excellent teacher/student ratio. They also provide an excellent Special Education program for the slightest disability to the most severe. I am very please with the extracurricular help provide for the students. There is never a reason for a student to fail a subject. There is always someone willing to help. Fox Lane High School has an excellent theatre program, music program and sports program.I have a graduate of FLHS and a sophmore.
