“Westlake High School is improving every year. The old reputation should be forgotten, I am a graduate of the high school and I got a great education. It's all what you make of the experience and the classes. The reason why kids do bad there is not because of the teachers it's because they don't care enough to put in the time to study and succeed. Academics are great, and they offer a wide-range of AP programs for upperclassmen. Parent involvement, I felt was quite a bit. In my opinion, the parents seemed to sun the school. There are a myriad of excurricular activities available for students. Overall, great school, I received a great education, and I realized it when I went to college, and my school is very reputable, where I read some of my friends papers and I was shocked at the bad grammar, etc.”

“I think this school is improving every year. I am a grad, one daughter just graduated,two more on their way through. Sure some teachers are apathetic, but so are some parents-as well as students-in every school. Many kids do well and get into top universities-but parents finances keep them from attending. Westlake is like most other schools-it's what you make of it. The old reputation should be forgotten.”

“I believe that the old view about Westlake High School is not only untrue but unfair. Westlake teachers and administration are working harder than ever to promote an atmosphere of learning, hard work, and challenge. It is the constant fight of old steroetypes about the school that make it hard but I believe that any parent that does not see the changes that have been happening over the last few years needs to get into this school and see it happening for themselves. It is truly remarkable what the administration, led by Frank Viteritti, has put in place to assure that the future academic atmosphere grows higher and higher. Parents, you need to see for yourselves, stop listening to word of mouth from parents of former graduates, that day is done!”

“I honestly think there should be more diversity at Westlake High School. Most of the kids are of white race. I am not saying this is a bad thing, but these kids should be able to mix with kids of different ethnicities rather than the same as theirs. Maybe busing kids from other parts of Westchester, with poorer school districts? I just think these children should be able to mix with other kids, and see what kind of different types of kids there are.”
