Nyack Senior High School Reviews

I have a senior and a freshman this year. The senior has been accepted to many excellent colleges and it's because of the education he has received here at Nyack. The courses offered suit every level of learning. The list of extra curricular clubs, organizations and sports must satisfy everyone and the theater and music programs are superior. The district is working to get the administration staffing right because of the retirements. My kids have never complained about feeling unsafe or ignored. My only concern is the parents who feel they know better than the staff and administation.

Parents of freshman son. The experience has been challenging and the school year is halfway complete. There is entirely too much freedom for students in the high school or at this freshman sophomore level. Constant firmness, teacher, guidance involvement I believe would help this teen process for all.

I have two children that have graduated and one that is a sophomore at NHS. All three lack basic reading and creative writing skills. I have spent thousands on tutors and SAT preperation classes. My youngest daughter and her friends speak daily of the fights and thefts that take place in the school. Students that don't attend class are walked through the final exams by some teachers. There are math classes where the sub is better known then the teacher. This has been going on for at least three years. Athletes don't have to hand work in on time. Text books are not collected. I've handed in thirteen since my children have graduated. I've spoken with parents that have a dozen or so books at home. I feel for the good teachers.

committed to excellence, many programs for students of all needs

My son is in his freshman year at NHS so we haven't had much experience. Most of his teachers seem to be great. They are strong and interesting and very open to the students. I think the honors classes allow my son to be challenged appropriately. There are plenty of activities and all the students seem to find something attractive, but I seen really felt any great sense of community among the students

Not all it is cracked up to be.The class rooms are quite noisy which makes it difficult to take tests. The math regent scores where very low compared to the other schools in the district. It is very hard to get educational improvements for the schools because the senior citizens come out in hoards to vote down the ballots. They just don't want to spend the money.Their is a lot of problems in the district with bullying and many children are continually being picked on. A lot of the discline problems could be handled up front but instead they are overlooked by the teachers and principles.

This is a great school to go to. There are many course offerings to chose from, and the teachers are always there to help you.

This is a nice school to go to. There are a wide variety of courses to chose from and the teachers are always there for you if you need assistance, both before, during and after school.

Nyack High School is one of the best in the nation. My children have found their experience to be both positive and rewarding. The teachers are always helpful and willing to assist and the administration pays attention to detail making the school great. The emphasis on music and the arts is beyond compare. I could not be happier with the school and what it has done for my children

Nyack High School is a great high school. The quality of education is high and the teachers really care about you and how you do overall. There is wide range of music, art, sports and extracurricular activities to choose from as well. It is a super school to go to!

Very diverse, great school overall. Accademically strong, excellent extra curricular activities. Beautiful area. Football team awesome!

All three of my kids went through the Nyack School system. My oldest two are now in college (Boston University & Arizona State University) and both maintain they were very well prepared. My third child is finishing her Junior year and will be going to college. The diversity of the Nyack school system makes for an excellent education inside and out of the classroom. The extracurricular activities are excellent.

when I went to this school people respected me and your kids should like this school
