Pleasantville High School Reviews

It is scary going to a school like this. I do not feel prepared for the future, I do not get the support I need in school, alchahol and drugs here are used so much its not even funny, and now there will be a loud construction project going on for the next few years. Not only do the teachers not care about the students, the resources we have *especially in the science and math depts** are so old, broken, and even nonexistant(!) that learning effectivily is really hard to do. I like to learn, and just being at this school takes this away. It just seems like the people who actually want to spend money dont spend it on things we actually need but on frivilous things such as smart boards, and nice 'buggys' for the custodians, and resurfacing the gym floor. How bout a textbook written after 1990?!

There is no encouragement or guidance when it comes to needing help, especially in Math.

Horrible math and science departments. Open enrollment in AP courses brings down the level of those classes for the students who wish to achieve 4s and 5s.

I feel the school does not do enough to promote the average child's self esteem. I feel the administration is too interested in looking good on their test scores and not the individual child. The sports programs are very clicky.

The school provides a safe and secure environment, which notices the whereabouts of its students and is quick to contact parents when there are serious problems. The guidance office is responsive and caring. It is relatively easy to contact any individual teacher who will provide up to date feedback. It is an excellent school.

My daughter is a Junior at Boston College, former president of the PHS National Honor Society; my son currently a senior at PHS is going to attend Tufts University in the Fall, School of Engineering; my youngest daughter will be entering Kindergarten at the new Bedford Road Elementary School in the Fall. From pre-k to 12th Pleasantville has it all and my children's successes in life will all be based on their education in the Pleasnatville School District. Parent and teacher support is amazing. The arts and sciences are greatly heralded and make up a strong basis of the curriculum. Every tax dollar I spend returns immeasurable success and satisfaction.

Pleasantville is a school of excellence. I am very proud of my two children, one who has just graduated and my other child who is entering her sophmore year. They are receiving the best education in the State.
